Following restrictive diets or cutting out certain foods can cause cravings to become intense and lead to overeating and guilt. Eating balanced meals (even sweets and treats), is a more maintainable lifestyle.
DIET
Research shows that health can be impaired by how many hours we spend sitting each day. "Informal" physical activity such as standing up and walking around throughout the day can be just as important as aerobic exercise and strength training.
EXERCISE
Mindful eating doesn't mean you have to cut out your favorite dessert. It means controlling portions and listening to your body's natural hunger and satiety cues. It takes about 15-20 minutes for our bodies to feel full, so try savoring every bite.
MINDFULNESS
Adequate sleep is important for regulating important hormones. Without adequate rest, your hungry hormone (ghrelin) goes up and your full hormone (leptin) goes down. This may cause over eating and weight gain.

A registered dietitian nutritionist is a food and nutrition expert who has met academic and professional requirements including earning a bachelor's degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
